About us

Thomas Rowe moved from Canada to London in 2009, where he discovered his passion for shoemaking. After working at T & F Slack Shoemakers factory in London, he moved away from the factory setting and created his own bespoke shoe-making business.

Footwear for Film is a London-based workshop specialising in bespoke shoemaking for Film, TV, and Theatre. Since 2013, our team has been creating high-quality custom footwear — from one-off pieces to full production runs. We work closely with costume designers and makers to ensure the footwear seamlessly integrates with the costumes, matching the period, character, and overall vision of the production. We offer in-person fittings to guarantee a perfect bespoke fit and welcome designers and costume teams to visit our workshop for hands-on collaboration.

Since expanding our team in 2024 we have produced over XX pairs of shoes for feature films XX television series XX live theatre productions.

We are looking forward to working with new designers and continuing to handcraft a whole new reality of footwear from any era to any planet.

The team

Since expanding into a new phase to fully cater to the film, television, and theatre industry, we have hired some truly talented makers in our trade. Our team is efficient, knowledgeable and precise, with over 20 years of collective experience.

  • Nina Laumann

    Nina Laumann was trained up by Thomas in 2020 and hired full time 2021, she has extensive knowledge and passion for costume design and making prior to becoming a bespoke shoemaker.

    Emily joined our team in 2000, with a degree in Bespoke shoemaking and years of film footwear under her belt already.
